Thanks to all of you who came out on Aug. 29 to support René McCumber at the India dinner benefit! She is so grateful. Of the $3,000 needed, she raised about $2,057 through the dinner and as of Saturday, Sept. 4, is now only $158 short of full support.
Below is a personal note of thanks to Hope from René ...
Yes ... God is so good!! All the time!!! He just continues to show me His goodness each day through amazing friends like you and Pastor Duane and so many others at Hope. You are all my family and so many of you at Hope stepped up to the plate right beside me to help me, encourage me, and support me in so many ways in preparation for this India trip. I am so thankful that the Lord brought me to Hope.
When I moved here almost 5 years ago now, I was so broken. More than ever in my entire life. I knew I failed again..divorced again....I felt that all my chances in life were over and the Lord would never want to use me because of my past. I knew I wanted to be a part of another Evangelical Covenant church because of the one I belonged to in Kansas (this was the first church I truly felt I belonged just the way I am). So that is why I sought out Hope Covenant Church in Chandler, AZ. The church I attended in Kansas was also called Hope Covenant Church!
Anyway, I had NO IDEA the plans the Lord had for me the moment I stepped foot in church in Chandler, AZ! God would restore my broken heart and soul and make me believe in people again. I was so untrusting and have been for a long time because of my past and being married to Mike only made it worse. He and his family were "Christians" and they hurt me more than anyone ever has in my entire life. I came from a horrible childhood where there was so much physical and mental abuse, but somehow, the pain I endured from the spiritual abuse from my past relationship with Mike almost destroyed me..satan tried to destroy my soul, so that I could never do the Lord's work. I see that clearly now.
But, the Lord turned my ashes into beauty ... He directed my path to Hope in Kansas to Hope in Chandler, AZ! He knew just what I needed ... people like you ... people that have been broken just like me, so you would accept me with open arms. I am so blessed to be a part of Hope Covenant Church and to have you in my life for such a time as this!
