Mentoring

Titus 2:3-6 shares that men and women are to be encouraged by other men and women who have walked with God longer and have greater life experience.  We all need someone in our lives outside of family who can encourage us in our relationships with God.

While GROW Groups is the primary ministry that we invest in at Hope to help people take steps closer to Christ in their spiritual growth, we do help facilitate the connecting of adults and youth into mentoring relationships.

What do those in menoring relationships do with their mentorees?

It's totally up to the mentor and mentoree.  Mentorees will share what all is going on in his/her life where he/she needs to grow spiritually, with the intentions that he/she will be held accountable and challenged in healthy ways in the weeks and months to come.  Many in these relationships also choose a study to do together, to keep drawing them into the Word and giving them an added incentive to get together regularly to discuss the study. This study could be a book of the Bible or some other Christian discipleship materials.

I'd like to be mentored.  What do it do?

Simply notify of your interest in a mentor.  Describe what you think you might be looking for, and how you hope to be challenged.  He will then look for someone in the church who might be a good match and who is open to mentoring you, and then introduce the two of you to each other.

I'd like to serve by being a mentor at Hope. What do I do?

Let know of your interest in being a mentor, and any type of person whom you might feel best suited to you, your background/personality and stage of life.  As long as you fit the criteria, he will keep your name on a list of available mentors and contact you when someone who might be a match shows interest in a mentor.
