What is the Advent Conspiracy?

 1. WORSHIP fully: To worship God more fully than we ever have.

 “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem village...a band of scholars arrived in Jerusalem from the East. They asked around, “Where can we find and pay homage to the newborn King of the Jews? We observed a star in the eastern sky that signaled his birth. We’re on pilgrimage to worship him.”    Matthew 2:1-2 (MSG)

 2. SPEND carefully: To spend less money on Christmas than in past years.

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another…”  Romans 13:8a (NIV)

“Why do you spend…your wages on that which does not satisfy?”                           Isaiah 55:2 (NKJV)

 3. GIVE relationally: To give more personal & meaningful gifts to people.

 “So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And

we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”                       John 1:14 (NLT)

 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16 (NLT)

4. LOVE actively: To love all we come to know, especially those most in need.

“You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.”                                                      2 Corinthians 8:9 (NLT)

 “Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything?  Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, ‘Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!’ and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you?  5 WAYS YOU CAN JOIN THE CONSPIRACY THIS CHRISTMAS

1. Determine a Christmas budget this year, and commit to sticking to it.

2. Have a family meeting. Talk about how each of you would like Christmas

    to be more meaningful this year, and why.

3. Decide how you can worship God more fully this year as a family.

4. Decide how you can spend less on gifts, and how you will use those funds

    to give to others in need this season.

5. Post something you’ve decided to do differently this year on the Advent

    Conspiracy board in the church lobby.
