“Blessed To Be a Blessing”
Pastor Duane Cross | 05.16.2010
“I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.” (Ezekiel 34:26)
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
“Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.” (II Corinthians 9:13-14)
3 BIG BLESSING MISTAKES
1) Some ignore God’s blessings.
2) Some apologize God’s blessings.
3) Some hoard God’s blessings.
“This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:21)
“A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from soil or fruit from the trees belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.” (Leviticus 27:30)
3 WAYS YOU ARE BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING.
1) We are blessed to give joyfully.
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (II Corinthians 9:6-7)
2) We are blessed to give extravagantly.
“...a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. she broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head. Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, ‘Why this waste of perfume? It could have been sold for more than a year’s wages and the money given to the poor.’” (Mark 14:3-5)
3) We are blessed to give sacrificially.
“...this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything-all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:43-44)
“No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” (2 Samuel 24:24)
