“Judging”

Pastor Duane Cross

November 4, 2007

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. (2) For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (3) Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? (4) How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? (5) You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.” Matthew 7:1-5

“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults, unless of course you want the same treatment.” Matthew 7:1 (The Message)

I. Condemnation toward those who are

outside the family of God.

“They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, (30) slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; (31)they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. (32)Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.“

Romans 1:29-32

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.” Romans 2:1

II. Condemnation toward those who are

inside the Family of God.

“ If you bite and ravage each other watch out, in no time at all you will be annihilating each other, and where will your precious freedom be then?”

Galatians 5:15 (the Message)
