#1 - Setting unrealistic expectations for your marriage.

Four wide-eyed realities that every married couple needs to know:
1) I am and I am married to a deeply flawed person.
2) Marriage doesn't erase those flaws, it enlarges them.
3) Marriage isn't easy, it's a lifelong challenge.
4) For my marriage to be wonderful, my spouse and I must pay a very high price over many years to make it that way.

#2 - Assuming your mate knows your needs.

Men, the top 4 needs of your wives:
1) Meaningful conversation
2) Honesty and openness
3) Affection
4) Domestic involvement

Women, the top 4 needs of your husbands:
1) Sexual fulfillment
2) Recreational companionship
3) Attractive spouse
4) Respect and admiration

#3 - Believing that love is a feeling

Love involves and produces feelings, but it's not a slave to my emotions.

Real love is a decision, an act of my will; it's a choice to do what's best for another person.
